Sustaining Abundant Life is a women's prayer and poetry
project that supports Women and the Well House ministries
in San Antonio, Texas. The mission of Woman at the Well
House is to promote the physical, emotional, intellectual,
and spiritual health of formerly incarcerated women so that
they may make a successful transition into the community.
Tina Karagulian's prayer is among the many wonderful
written contributions by women writers and poets:
My Heart is Full
And you, daughters of my soul,
have no fear*—
authentic self,
babe in new skin,
transparent heart,
wrapped in curvatures of hills,
held in the crooks of your valleys,
from Zeitun to where my heart lives,
there is no distance: seerdus letzoon eh. **
I walk with women who know this terrain,
who turn back and beckon me
across the threshold.
Mother of My Soil,
you call me inside the beat of drums
to bridge my inner worlds.
Now no one place is more real.
I plant my roots inside your bosom,
ever complete.
