As a child, I found that when I would draw, I could sit for hours and
automatically enter into a space that would soothe my soul, where I could
feel free to be all that I am, where there were no limitations on me by
anyone. Time would stand still, and I would suddenly realize that three
hours or more had gone by. In that space, I was free, happy, and at peace.
I would speak to God and God’s presence as a dear friend alongside me.
Without realizing it, I healed much of myself when I would draw or paint.
Now I can put words to the experience, that the act of doing my artwork
was my meditative, sacred time, and I intuitively would honor my soul’s
desire to be all that it could be in the world.

That is what I try to create for others in all that I do: to create healing and
empowering moments in which myself and others tap into their expansive
souls, to inspire them to move forward with their unique mission on earth.
Whether it is through my art, poetry, and writing, through my counseling
sessions, or through my workshops, it is all the same. My mission is to
ignite inspiration in others so that they can do the same for those in their
life, and the love and healing just ripples out into the world. It starts with
me, with inspiring myself. I sing devotional songs when I paint, and I
consider my poems to be prayers…each time I sing or recite these
inspirational words, I take myself to the place where my soul is
comfortable, where I am meant to be. Then from that place, I know
how to move forward, to create more possibilities in the world. But it is
not enough to have this journey by myself; I love watching others move
forward in their own spiritual journeys, too.

So for me, creativity is tied to healing one’s spirit…all spirit is creative, so
any time we allow our spirit to create a new and more loving perception of
ourselves and others, we are connecting our spirits together in the highest
way. I believe we all strive for that, deep down, but at times painful
experiences get in the way of connecting to our infinite spirits. Art is one
way in, to give voice to the painful experiences, so that there is a
movement for that pain. Pain in it of itself is not meant to remain within
us, within our bodies, in an endless loop, but is meant to be understood,
digested, and then used for the greater good. Giving ourselves permission
to give voice to our pain and give it a way to move is a wondrous step, and
in doing so, we inevitably find and connect with our spirit within. There is
suddenly more room to move around in the world, and we are freer to be
our true selves.

I celebrate the collective creativity, peace, and healing of all beings; may
we continue to create an opening for our true selves to shine in this world!
